Using an online tally list in a club the right way

An online tally list helps clubs with small counting tasks that several people maintain together: volunteer shifts, completed jobs, distributed material or points. TeamCounter is a good fit when a simple counter shared by link is enough and no full club management system is required.

When an online tally list makes sense in a club

Start with a clear, countable question: how many tasks are finished? How many volunteer shifts are filled? How many points has a group collected? Neutral, unambiguously named entries prevent misunderstandings later on.

TeamCounter is not designed for membership records, fees, health information or confidential procedures. Those need roles, documented access and a specialised application.

Step by step to a shared club list

Define the purpose and the end date of the list.
Create an online tally counter and give it an unmistakable name.
Add only the entries you really need.
Give the management link to a small number of responsible people.
Use the view link or the display link for people who should only read along.
Test the whole process with neutral sample entries before the real event.

Distributing access appropriately

The view link shows the current state but allows no changes. The management link allows editing and should be treated like a private key. The large display is meant for a tablet, monitor or projector and never replaces management access.

Example: volunteer shifts at a club festival

The organising team creates neutral counters for setup, service and teardown. Only the coordinating people receive the management link. Volunteers follow the current state through the view link; a shared screen can additionally run the large display.

Personal shift plans, contact details or reasons for absence do not belong in this list.

Data protection and limits

A noindex rule keeps individual lists out of search engines, but it is not password protection. Anyone holding the management link can change values. TeamCounter has no graduated user roles and no complete audit-proof change log.
