Guide and practical tips
Everything important at a glance
Clearly structured, easy to understand and tailored to this TeamCounter tool.
Plan and run a knockout tournament online
Use the TeamCounter bracket to run a knockout tournament for table football, darts, table tennis, chess, esports or a club party right in your browser. Enter the participants in seeding order, TeamCounter builds the pairings and gives byes to the top seeds. After each match you enter the result and the winner moves on until the champion is decided.
From the field of participants to the final
Add 3 to 16 participants. Their order is the seeding list: the first seed meets the last one, and when the field is not full the top seeds receive a bye. The bracket size of 4, 8 or 16 slots follows from the number of participants.
For every match you enter the points of both sides. The side with more points moves on. After a tie you pick the winner yourself, for example after extra time, a penalty shootout or a coin toss.
Change results without losing track
If a correction changes the winner of a match, TeamCounter first lists the later matches that already have results. They are only reset after you confirm. Every change is kept in the history.
Participants and spectators open the view link and follow the current state without editing rights. For a projector or a hall monitor there is the display view.

Questions and answers
How do I create a tournament bracket?
Give the tournament a name and create it. Then enter 3 to 16 participants in seeding order. TeamCounter builds the first-round pairings and the complete bracket up to the final.
What happens if the number of participants does not fill the bracket?
The bracket has 4, 8 or 16 slots. If slots stay empty, the top seeds receive a bye and move on to the next round without playing. Two byes never meet.
What happens after a tie?
TeamCounter does not decide a tie on its own. You pick the winner, for example after extra time, a penalty shootout or a coin toss. Only then does the winner move on.
Can I correct a result that was entered wrongly?
Yes, results can be changed at any time. If this changes the winner and later rounds already have results, TeamCounter lists the affected matches and only resets them after you confirm. Every change is kept in the history.
Does the tournament bracket work offline?
Yes, the offline version stores the tournament only in this browser. It has no link for sharing. If you want to share the state with others, use the online version.
Is there a group stage or a third-place match?
No, the bracket covers a simple single-elimination format with up to 16 participants. Group stages, double elimination and a third-place match are not included.
How do winners move on to the next round?
As soon as you enter a result, the side with the higher score moves on to the next round automatically; after a tie you choose the winner yourself. The rounds are named up to the final, and the champion is highlighted.
Do spectators see new results without reloading?
Yes, the view link and the display view of an online tournament pick up saved results, usually within about a second. When the currently 6 simultaneous live connections of the website are in use, the display updates about every 10 seconds. Spectators cannot change anything.
Can I export or print the matches?
Yes, the matches can be exported as a CSV file; to print or save a PDF, use your browser’s print dialog.
